Dominica-inspired rum punch · Made in the United Kingdom

A taste of the Nature Island, ready to pour.

Dark rum, lime, bitters, cane sugar and nutmeg — the punch as it’s made at home in Dominica, not the sweet jug version. Chill the bottle, pour it over ice, and the evening looks after itself.

A 700ml bottle of Gouté Balvin Dominica-inspired rum punch, deep amber, with a cream label showing the Indian River

The punch

Most rum punches start with fruit juice. Ours starts with the rum.

The punch you meet in most bars is bright, sweet and built on juice. Gouté Balvin is closer to the one poured at home: dark rum first, lime for lift, bitters and fresh nutmeg for depth. Less a cocktail from a jug, more a drink to sit with.

Dark rum first

Built on dark rum rather than stretched with juice, so it tastes like what it is.

Lime for lift

Real lime acidity keeps the sweetness in check and the finish clean.

Bitters and nutmeg

The warm, faintly bitter edge that separates a proper punch from a sweet one.

Ready to pour

One bottle, one serve, the same every time. No shaker, no six ingredients, no guessing the measures.

Tasting notes

Warm, bright, and a little bitter — in that order.

Nose

Fresh-grated nutmeg, lime zest and the soft warmth of cane sugar.

Palate

Dark rum up front, lime cutting straight through it, a low hum of bitters underneath.

Finish

Long and warm. The nutmeg is the last thing to leave.

How to serve

It takes about ten seconds.

Chill.

Keep the bottle in the fridge. It’s at its best properly cold.

Pour.

100ml over plenty of ice in a short glass.

Grate.

A little fresh nutmeg over the top. A lime wheel if you have one.

For a crowd

One bottle is seven 100ml serves. Pour it into a jug over ice with lime wheels and let people help themselves.

Longer

50ml topped with soda and a squeeze of lime, for a lighter drink that lasts.

Know your serve

100ml over ice is 2 UK units. A 700ml bottle holds 14. Please drink responsibly.

Where it’s from

Inspired by Dominica. Made in the United Kingdom.

Dominica calls itself the Nature Island and earns it: rainforest, rivers, hot springs, a coastline never more than a short drive away. In the north, near Portsmouth, the Indian River winds inland under a roof of mangrove — the scene on our label, and the corner of the island this recipe comes from.

We’re straightforward about where it’s made. The recipe and the inspiration are Dominican; the blending and bottling happen in the United Kingdom, in small batches we can taste and check ourselves. It says so on the back of every bottle.
